Clair Cracks Me Up!

I don't know where she gets some of the things she says, but honestly people, I can't make this stuff up!

Tonight on the way home from grabing a little something to eat, she was in the back talking to herself about how much yummy candy she was going to get. For those of you who don't know, Clair REALLY likes candy and sneaks it and hides it and craves candy! Heck she even wants to know what's for dessert after BREAKFAST! So, I know she was excited but then she said the funniest thing!
(Clair real sing-songy to herself ) "I'm going to get so much candy. It will be like falling in love!" I about wrecked the car I was laughing so hard!

Then while we were trick or treating one lady took a while to answer the door. We knocked, then Kate rang the bell, then Bowen rang the bell...it was happening so fast I couldn't stop them! I finally thought, maybe no one is home. Right as we got ready to turn around and leave the door opened and Clair said, with that Clair look of disgust, "You sure took a long time to open the door!" I was mortified! I said, "Clair that isn't very nice!" The lady said, "No, it's true, I was in the back room and it did take me awhile." Still as we walked away I had to tell her some other nice things she could have said like "Good evening!" "Happy Halloween" "How are you doing?" She just looked at me, slightly rolled her eyes (as if to say, no four year old with any dignity says those things) and replied "OK mom, I know! I know!"

That child!
I had the Annual Halloween Luncheon today with Brooklyn. We had a really nice time. Brooklyn brought her friend Amaya. Here are some pictures of what we ate and what we did. It was fun.

There was one or should I say 4 things missing...Kate, Clair, Bowen, and Jack. Next year Jack will come and of course we'd love to have the Bright kids too. It's not the same without them.

Late Night

Last night Brooklyn came over for a "Late Night." For those of you who don't know what a "Late Night" is...I got this idea from one of my students at Westside. They were not allowed to stay the night at friends' houses, so instead they had "Late Nights." Brooklyn is allowed to stay the night, but she also enjoys having "Late Nights." She comes, plays, takes a bath, and then goes home in time to get in bed.

Last night at our "Late Night" we did a few things to get ready for today's Halloween lunch. We made some Halloween suckers for Brooklyn to give to Shelby (who was invited to the lunch, but couldn't come), Mimi, and Papa. I don't know where most of the candy went...in the molds or in Brooklyn's belly.

We also made rub on pumpkins for the 6 Little Pumpkin puppet show that we planned to do at the luncheon.

Bath time was next. I always wear a bathrobe after showering. She's noticed that and decided that she needed a bathrobe for my house. We looked and looked and finally found one. She was so excited to get to put it on after her bath.

We wish that 2 little Bright girls could come over for a "Late Night" every once in awhile.

Oldies but Youngies!

Here are some photos of the kids in their Halloween 50's splendor for "Trunk or treat"
"Come on baby let the good times roll . Come on baby let me thrill your soul..Come on baby let the good times roll..Roll all night long..."

"Sisters, sisters, never were there such devoted sisters!"

"Earth Angel, Earth Angel...will you be mine?"
"Well I saw a gal walkin' down the street, The kind of a gal I'd love to meet, She had blonde hair and eyes of blue, Come along and be my party doll, "

"He's so fine(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)Wish he were mine(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)That handsome boy overthere(Do-lang-do-lang-do-lang)..the one with the spiky hair!"

"Only you (three) can make this world seem right...Only you (three) can make the darkness bright"

Don't mess with Texas OR Bowen!

FHE and Pumpkins

It is kind of a tradition now...the Monday before Halloween we carve our pumpkins. Here is the photos to document this years annual event!

Silly Bowen

Bowen woke up this morning and had lots to say!

"I crying and crying!" - Bowen

"Why were you crying?" - Me

"I sick!" - Bowen

"What's the matter?" - Me

"I hab (have) hiccups and heber (fever)" - Bowen

I about fell over laughing! So all you beware..."hiccups and heber" obviously are going around!

Then when I was looking for the pictures I took of Bowen the other day after church, he kept laughing at the pictures of himself and saying, "Bowen silly silly!" And some of them are pretty silly! He did look so handsome, but was not in the mood for photos. He kept getting real close to the camera!
He wanted to take a picture with me, so this is the best self portrait we could come up with!
Then after I took his shirt off he put his tie back on and so I put his vest back on and told him to show me his muscles...this is what we got! SO CUTE!

Fro Yo Taste Off

One of the things I love about NY and miss by the way...is Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt. I love the tart, tingle on my tongue as I take a bite. I love the fresh fruit and the moshe (yummy marshmallow like things) I get in every bite. There is just one problem with Pinkberry...it can only be found in NY and LA. While I was in LA 2 weeks ago, I tried to get to the closest Pinkberry...but with no luck.

In May, while in SLC, I stumbled upon a Pinkberry knock-off called Lunaberry. I tried it and actually enjoyed it. It was close to what my taste buds remembered of Pinkberry.

While in Utah, last week...I was able to find another Pinkberry knock-off called Red Mango. Sadly, I ordered a large and my taste buds were sorely disappointed. It was a poor Pinkberry wannabe! (However, it didn't stop me from eating it...only with every bite I wished it was a Pinkberry.)

So out of the 3 Fro Yo's out there...Pinkberry is still the winner!

To the naked, untrained eye and tongue...you might think they all look and probably taste the same. Don't be deceived! They are not all created equal!

Stay tuned, because next week I am going back to Utah and I hear from my friend Kristan (NY Pinkberry connoisseur) that she found a place called SpoonMe that she says is a pretty good knock-off. I will be sure to let you know.

Oh and those Pinkberry lovers that also enjoy Cold Stone...don't be tricked by their "Nrgize Frozen Yogurt"...it is by far the worst wannabe Pinkberry out there!

More Maine

Another beautiful day in Maine!

First we went to Sand Beach to look for shells for the girls! Not too many sand beaches on this rocky coast! It was cold, but the sun was shinning and warmed things up. The sandy beach had rocks on either end.

Next we went back to Thunder Hole. It was much more awesome today. The tide was too high yesterday! Today it was "booming" away! (First picture in the hole when the tide is out...then second picture..."BOOM" in comes the tide to fill the hole!)

From Thunder Hole, we hiked along a trail that follows the coastline. It was so pretty. I felt like just sitting in the sun and watching the ocean all day! Most of you know, I am not an ocean girl...I am more a mountain girl. However, in Maine you get the best of both worlds! The trail was like something from the mountains of North Carolina, but you'd come to a clearing and "POP" below you is the ocean! Despite the cold I found several pretty wildflowers. I also saw more beautiful fall colors!

Next we drove to Bar Harbor. We did a little shopping...what bargains! All the stores are closing for the winter and everything was at least 50% off or more! We got the kids several little treats and spent less then we planned. We also saw many cool things like this lobster place...They catch them, bring them in, and serve them up at this dock restaurant! The things hanging from the walls are buoys for the lobster pots. Each fisherman has his own color scheme, so he knows which pots are his! (Here is what the pots or traps look like. The lobsters swim in a hole on the side to eat some food and then they can't get out!) I even got to pretend to be the boat captain!

Next we went to a Whale Museum. If money grew on trees we would have gone on a whale watching boat tour...but we only found leafs on trees, so we were not able to go on a boat. So next best thing, we went to this little museum. It had some interesting things including this jaw bone of whale! Yikkes!

Finally, we drove to the other side of the island to see a lighthouse. I love lighthouses! We could not go in, but we got to hike all around it. It is right on a cliff overlooking a harbor. It is called the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. It was so pretty here. Stephen and I sat on the rocks and just watched the waves crash the rocks below us! This is the view from where we sat!

So, another day over! Tomorrow Stephen has to go to work. :( So, I will be sitting in the hotel room reading and watching movies. I am sad our fun traveling days are over but it is supposed to rain tomorrow and dare I even say it...SNOW on Wednesday! Yikes! I guess I will be nice and warm in the hotel room! I am just so grateful for the wonderful weather we've had the last couple days during our exploring!

Maine

Hello from Maine...burrrr!

Today we went to Acadia National Park. It was so beautiful! The leaves are a little pass peak, but it was still so pretty. I would really like to come back in the summer.

Here is a picture from a lookout point.

Here is a picture of a light house...WAY off in the distance!

Then we saw something really cool... a named bathroom...

No really, Thunder Hole is a cool place in the rocky coast where the tide fills in a big hole and makes a sound like a clap of thunder.

This is a view above Thunder Hole...

This is Stephen down near Thunder Hole...it was already full...so no picture of the actual hole!

Here is a wet Rosalind...the tide was coming in and it got me wet while I was trying to take a picture and not paying attention. Burrrr...cold!

Another picture near thunder hole.

Cranberries grow wild around here...they have large cranberry barrens.

Then we went to the top of Cadillac Mountain (1580 ft) for 360 degree view of BarHarbor. Can you see the town down below?

On our way back to Bangor we stopped at a Lobster Pound for dinner. I didn't order Lobster, but I tasted Stephen's...yummy! I also ate some clam chowder...yummy! It was a cool little place...you could buy lobster to take home or eat it right there! It was neat! We had yummy food and good laughs!

So, Maine hasn't been all fun... on our first night while checking out Bangor and getting dinner and also a few groceries we had a little problem. When we came out of the grocery store, the rental car wouldn't start. Something about the anti-theft device not recognizing the key! The car had to be towed and we had to get a new rental...but the whole thing took like two and a half hours and it got dark and cold in that time!

In closing...while the rest of the world in deciding between McCain and Obama...around here they are voting for...

That's right good old Tom Sawyer!
