We Thank Thee Oh God for a Prophet

Last night was a very bitter sweet experience, as we received the call that our beloved Prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley had passed away and my heart was very full. I have always thought President Hinckley was such a dear man. At first I was sad and then I thought about the glorious reunion he was having with his dear, sweet wife and I was happy. All I had to do was remember how fondly her talked of her and how sad and lonely he was without her. I bet that would have been a great site to see them together again.

Ros and I were talking this morning about how after hearing the news all we wanted to do was check the news and internet to see if we could get more information. Ros mentioned how sad it made her that the only news she could find was about the funeral and death of Heath Ledger. She said, "Here the Prophet of God has died and there is nothing about it." I commented that the sad thing is that the world doesn't know what they've lost. How lucky I feel to know that God has not left us alone. That He has sent Prophets to lead and guide us and also to know that despite President Hinckley's death, there are still Prophets leading this church. How lucky I feel to have been led by President Hinckley. His sense of humor confirmed that our HEavenly Father must have a sense of humor and that this truly is the Gospel of Good News. THank you President Hinckley for your love, service, and dedication!

Special Delivery

A couple of weeks ago I was baby-sitting Brooklyn and Jack while dad was at football and mom was at Young Women's. Brooklyn brings her suitcase practically where ever she goes. She was sitting in it, so I snapped this picture with my Blackberry phone. She then insisted that we put Jack in and take his picture. They both looked pretty cute. Jack is such a good sport...never crying with all that we do to him.

Back to my Old Stompin' Ground

I had a training in Roswell today and tomorrow in Hatch...so we traveled through a place that is near and dear to my heart...Alamagordo, NM. I have to say that it really hadn't changed much. There were lots more stores- Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot, Chili's, and 2 Sonics, plus many more. It was exciting to see the White Sands Mall...nothing different. My co-worker was kind enough to pull over and let me get a picture of the base's sign. It looked just the same too.

The thing that amazed me the most was the White Sands dunes. They seemed so small. Either I have grown or they have blown away. It was really fun to get to see the old place. Boy do I have good memories of that place. Good times!
