Easter Egg Hunt

After our very lovely Easter dinner at mom and dad's house we enjoyed an Easter Egg hunt in the backyard. Brooklyn had a great time. Aunt Shirley and her family were here. I can't believe I didn't get one picture with them. I know that Britni did, so I am sure she will post them sometime on their blog. As you can tell from the pictures, my camera was acting up...so I didn't get many pictures. (I think it is time for a new camera.)
Trinity participated in the egg hunt too. She and Brooklyn got along pretty well.

This Easter Egg Hunt reminded me of when we were all little and we were with our Call cousins in ABQ. I believe that we were at the Sego's house. I remember one Easter when we were all in matching yellow dresses, but the Easter egg hunt memory we were all wearing different outfits. I remember finding eggs, eating the white of the egg (because back then egg hunts were for real hard boiled eggs and not plastic eggs filled with candy) and throwing the yoke of the eggs over the fence to the dogs next door. Those poor dogs must have gotten so sick. I can't remember how old we were, but I remember one of the Sego girls had a gray dress with a pink sash. You all know my memory is terrible, so I'm shocked I remember that. Those were good times. I sure wish that Kate, Clair, and Bowen could have been here to make Easter Egg hunt memories with their cousins. Maybe next year! :)

High School Musical on Ice

Last Friday I was lucky enough to get to go with Britni and Brooklyn to see High School Musical on Ice. The tickets were a birthday present from Britni's mom to Brooklyn. We was very excited. When we first got there she instantly wanted to "go down there with them." After the first half (HSM 1) she turned to us and said, "Is if over?" When we told her no she immediately decided she was thirsty. Brit got her a snowcone in the lovely red cup you see her drinking from in the picture. I think she enjoyed the drink as much as she enjoyed the show. I believe she would have been happy leaving after the first half. I have some video clips that I will try to post later.

Dinner and Babysitting

Tonight Joel and Brit celebrated their anniversary. That meant a night out and a night in for me, Brooklyn, and Jack. I promised Brooklyn a fun dinner, with Jello eggs and cookie making. For dinner I made Octo-dogs and shells. Brooklyn loved to it and I have to say myself that it turned out darling. The Jello egg, which were not worth taking a picture of didn't turn out as well, unless you like Jello egg halves. I couldn't get the eggs to come out in whole. They were still yummy. Poor Jack, he didn't get to partake in any of the yummies. He did enjoy pears, cereal, cantelop, and carrots. We had a nice night.

Brooklyn the Artist

I work with a guy in CA named Oscar. Brooklyn happened to be in the car with me one day when I was on the phone with him. Ever since that day she has become quite obsessed with him. She asks me on a regular basis how he is doing or if I have talked to him. She prays for him and asks me to show her a picture of him (which I don't have.) Wednesday night, while she was over, she insisted on writing him a letter and drawing a picture of him. For some reason she had it in her mind that he was sick...I'm not really sure how that came about. Anyway, this is the picture she drew of him. She did it all by herself. I did write down the letter she dictated and I also helped her sign her name, but the picture was all her own. Her letter was very hilarious. She said, "I hope you feel better. What's wrong with you anyway?" and several other funny things. She asked me everyday since then if I had sent the letter yet. The last two days, when I told her no she was very upset and today I finally sent it. She was very pleased with that news. I am very impressed with her drawing, after all she is only 3. I asked her why she chose green...Oscar is sure she pictures Oscar the grouch when she thinks of him. When I asked her she said, "Well green is a boy color and he is a boy, right?" I'm sure Oscar will get a kick out of it. He already thinks she is brillant...only because she likes him. :)

Pre-Easter Activities

This Wednesday, Brooklyn came over for a visit. We walked Pepper, Joel's dog...not mine and then had dinner. After dinner we decorated some Easter marshmallow bunnies. It was very fun. I think Brooklyn had a great time. She kept using the edible marker to write on her tongue. She thought it was very fun. The bunnies turned out cute, but they really tasted not so great. Brooklyn liked them, but Joel and Brit weren't as impressed by the taste.

Cavity Fighting Lollypops

http://drjohns.com/herbal.htm

Here is a website that sells these cool new cavity fighting lollypops. I saw a story about this on Good Morning America. It seemed cool, so I looked it up. If you are interested in reading or seeing the story go to Good Morning America's website. It was very interesting. It is all herbal and natural and I was convinced!

What a sweet wake up call!

I know this isn't the greatest copy...but our scanner is LONG gone so a digital photo will have to do. Some Saturday mornings, when Stephen and I TRY to sleep in...Kate writes us notes, asking stuff like, can I play webkinz, eat a piece of bread, whatever, instead of waking us up! One school day morning, several months ago I woke up to find this note sitting on top of the the covers of my bed. Every time I see it, it makes me smile and feel so loved! The spelling is so darling! I just love my little Kate...she is getting so grown up! She said she got up early and wrote it in the bathroom so she didn't wake anyone up! :) Here is a translation of what it says....
I love mom. I think you are the best mom in the world. (Written above the line next to a little picture it says...Here is a Hannah Montana wig.) I will get green bear today. You are pretty. I like your hair style. I love you kisses. I like you. I love the way you smell. You are so beautiful. Thanks for letting me play webkinz world today. I wish I could look at you all day long because I love you. You're nice too because one day you let me play at Heritage Park with the Postages. I miss you at school. Thank you for taking Clair and me to the Hannah Montana movie. Thank you for letting me go to soccer (can't read). (Not sure about the last sentence, I think it says...You thank me which is good.) PS Love From Kate

Hula Girls

Thanks Aunt Emily for buying us our cool hula outfits! We love them!
(Kate was sick this day...thus the reason she is still in PJ's)

Super Tuesday 2

With "Super Tuesday 2" behind us...Texas held their primaries this past Tuesday. I thought I would take the time to tell you about my political views. Ok, I'm not really going to do that, but I am going to tell you about my experience voting. Joel and I got up at the butt-crack of dawn to go to our precinct to vote. I didn't want to wait in any lines. Joel was leaving as I was arriving and at that time there were NO lines, but I hear the lines did get bad. It was very interesting talking to co-workers, because I discovered that if you voted Republican you were asked 3 questions on the ballot that Democrats were not asked on their ballots. What is up with that?
Brooklyn came over that Tuesday night for an hour to play. I asked her if she went with her mom to vote. She said, "My mom doesn't bote." I said, "Didn't she go to a place to vote and get a round sticker?" She said, "I got a sticker with a flag on it." I said, "I think that is where your mom voted for President." She said, "We don't need to bote for President, our church already has one, but it's not President Hinckley anymore." I thought that was cute. I had to explain President of the US -vs- President of the Church. I don't think she got it, but I was glad that she thinks President Monson is enough for us. Oh that all the world felt that way.

SC Update!

I have not pics to post today, but I wanted to give an update on SC.

Bowen - This boy is growing up so fast! He is into everything and quick as lightening about it! He still loves to eat, but has decided to start to get picky! Can you believe he doesn't like sandwiches! What am I going to do? He loves cheese and green beans...which he calls "beans beans"! Right now he is sitting on the floor with the guitar from guitar hero in his lap and jamming out with Elmo and Kids Favorite songs DVD. He is really likes playing with balls...I love to play football with him and am trying to teach him to play QB! He just runs under my legs and grabs the ball and laughs! He is so cute.

Clair - Yesterday Clair picked to get a Hannah Montana wig from Wally World! I told her she had to share with her sister and she agreed. She looks so funny in it. Clair is still my little chef! She loves to cook! The other day we cooked play dough and she choose to make it purple. It turned out really well and we've all enjoyed playing with it...even though the salt melt melts the paint off the walls! Clair just started up with gymnastics again. She attends at a place called "Little Gym" and even has a little friend in her class! Her little mouth runs the whole class and her little eyes sparkle like gems! She LOVES it!

Kate - This kid is reading a fury! She helps read the Book of Mormon each night during family scripture study! It is so amazing to me! She is also a great writer. However, some night she just doesn't want to do her homework...like last night. She took an hour and a half to do one little writing assignment. Kate starts soccer in a few weeks...guess what color her cleats are? PINK! I can't even believe they make pink cleats...Stephen was horrified and is sure they will clash with her team colors...what doesn't go with pink? She is working on reading 100 books for a reading club at school. We are on 50...so half way there!

Stephen - He's working like a mad man! If he isn't on the road, he is working 10 - 12 hour work days! We are just so happy he is employed and is such a good provider! His boss will be in town on Wednesday and is taking us both out to dinner...my choice...to thank Stephen for ALL his hard work! His boss is so nice and very appreciative! It is a nice change!

Rosalind - I am just trying to keep everything organized...birthday parties, business trips, doctors appointments, car pool, library books, church assignments, homework, and mother stuff! March is already booked full of stuff! Aughh!

I will post some pictures in a few days. I sure miss you all and wish we were closer.

Ode to Papa

Notice that in most of these pictures Papa is with grandchildren or doing something for grandchildren. He sure loves his grandkids and they sure love him. He's a great dad and a great papa. Dad, I appreciate all your hard work for our family and for me particularly. Hanging pictures, putting together furniture, making furniture, mowing my lawn...and many more things you've done for me are appreciated. Thanks for all you do! We love you.

This John Wayne Statue is just because dad likes John Wayne too much! :)

Happy Birthday Papa!

Its Papa's big day today! We just wanted to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

More Wii

Wii Boxing

A few weeks ago we were over at Joel and Brit's house. Brit's sister and brother in law got a Wii for Christmas. We had a blast playing it. Dad couldn't wait to get mom in the boxing ring. It was hilarious to watch. Thought you all would enjoy it too.

Hooray for Other People Posting

Thanks Ros for posting. These were great. I enjoy posting, but I LOVE seeing posts of the kids. I was forgetting what they looked like! :) I'm glad you are having fun in South Carolina.

President's Day Weekend

We had a great long weekend for Pres. Day. We went to the mountains in North Carolina with our friends and neighbors, the Messerklingers...or as Clair calls them, "our German friends". It was kind of a glummy weekend weather wise. But we enjoyed a few refreshing hikes...some nice drives...great lookouts (even if it was foggy and cloudy)...the best food three times a day...fun board games...some spirited foosball games...late nights...and lots of laughs!
Kate, Clair, & Katharina at a senic overlook.
The whole group after a hike.
Here we are in front of the cabin...called Bear-e Nice.
The girls again...on a hike at Linville Falls.
This is one of the veiwing spots for the falls...to the left (out of the photo) was the falls...to the right and way down was the gorge that the water ran through before another set of falls. It was so beautiful. Pictures just don't do it justice.

100 Day Celebration

We worked long and hard on this project. For those of you who haven't had the joy of experiencing the 100th day of school, a typical project is to collect 100 items. Kate wanted to have the best project in her class.
Thanks to Aunt Emily for helping out with the idea.
We collected 100 fingerprints from family members. (Em's idea) We arranged them in a rainbow. (Kate's idea) I must say after seeing all the other projects Kate's was the best.
Good job Kate!

Awards Day

Kate recieved several awards for her particpation in the annual Refelctions contest. She competed in three areas...literature, art, and photography with all the kids in her school K - 2nd grade. She got 3rd place for one of her stories and honorable mention for another story. She also got honorable mention for a drawing and a photo she took.

What do you do when in snows in South Carolina?

Snow angels..of course...this was the first thing my girls did.

Eat snow...Bowen kept plunging his whole face and taking big bites...
just watch out for yellow snow!

Build a snowman...well, this isn't too easy to do in SC...we really don't get enough snow.

But we still tried!

We were advised to stay off the roads...

but that didn't stop Bowen from riding on his favorite bike!

What is a snow day with out snowball fights! Kate loved this part!

South Carolina snow!

Mother Nature sent us a little fun in January. We got some snow...and school was cancelled. Too bad our Daddy was out of town and couldn't enjoy it with us. It was SO cold...but the kids just had to get out and play in the snow...followed by some nice marshmellowie hot chcolate...I enjoy snow...for the one day a year we get it in SC!
