Posting Comments

How can we make it so other people can post comments? Ros-I think you have to be the one to do it, since you are the administrator. I like to comment on all of our other extended family memebers' blogs and I would like family and friends to be able to comment on ours. I love comments...that is the fun of blogging! So let's let the comments begin!

U-Tube

Any suggestions for getting these video clips to work. My say the load, but take FOREVER! Is anyone else getting them?
Britni
Brooklyn wanted to send Aunt Emily a message yesterday, but I couldn't think of my name and password for the LIFE of me. So Sorry it is be-lated! I guess it's pregnancy hormones (that is what I blame everything on :)!

Girl's Night

While Kate and Clair were in town I invited all the girls: Kate (5), Clair (3), and Brooklyn (2 1/2) for a sleep over at my house. What a fun time we had! We did crafts, ate candy, stayed up late, and watched a movie. The girls ever held an impromptu dance recital (video clip). We all slept in my bedroom, Kate was on one blow-up mattress and Clair on another. Brooklyn started out the night with Clair, but I quickly realized that the giggling would probably not be conducive to sleep. Kate was out like a light. Brooklyn was asleep not too long after moving into bed with me. She did insist on my scratching her back (I guess that is just pay back for all the years I made Rosalind scratch mine.) Brooklyn also would just about be asleep when she would turn to me and say, "I'm ready to wake-up now." Clair never got out of bed, but she was the last to finally fall asleep a little after midnight! We had fun. I was very happy to see Britni the next morning, as she helped get us all to McDonald's for breakfast. The lady at the counter discovered that I was not the mother and that we were coming from a sleep over. She was baffled at my bravery or was it stupidity, who knows... we sure had fun!

Big Helper

When I got home from NYC, Brooklyn came over for the afternoon. We had a great time. She helped me unpack. When I unpacked my cap and gown she insisted on putting on the hat. She looked so cute, I had to snap a picture. Who knows...maybe we have a future Lion on our hands! All I can say to that is Joel and Brit better start saving up now!
Also while unpacking, Brooklyn came across my Soho purchase. She also wanted to try that on. What a darling child. She is saying, "Cheese" in this picture if you couldn't tell!
When we were done packing Brooklyn insisted we do the Hokey Pokey. She is so funny!

Graduation videos

I took several short movies with my camera at the very end of Columbia's Commencement. Hopefully this will work and you will enjoy watching some or all of these. They played "New York, New York" at the very end as all the graduates were exiting. So..."Start Spreading the news..."

Columbia's Commencement

Wednesday afternoon all of Columbia met in the Quad. It was great. I've never seen so much blue in all my life. It was a little toasty, but still I'm glad I went. I wouldn't have missed it for the world. The President of Columbia spoke and he did a really great job. He was really funny. Each of the Dean's or Presidents of the Colleges gave a little speech, recommending us for graduation. There were some honorary doctorates given out and things like that. It took about 2 1/2 hours to get through. Those graduating from the medical school also took the hypocratic oath. I thought that was neat. The whole thing ended with the graduates walking out to the song New York, New York...you know, "Start spreading the news..." It was neat.

Teachers College Graduation

The first part of graduation was for Teachers College. It was nice to see all of my old friends. It was held at 7 pm in the Riverside Church. This is a very famous church as it was the place where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous speech about Vietnam. Jesse Jackson is also known to speak there often. It is a beautiful church...but it was very hot inside. My poor mom...sitting on the 2nd floor balcony was miserable. I guess a church that old isn't built with AC.

I'm in GOOD company!

This past Tuesday and Wednesday I participated in my Graduation ceremonies at Columbia University. It was great. I enjoyed the actual university commencement more than my college graduation, although my name was read among the other 600 graduates at that particular ceremony. (That has never been done at Teachers College before...this is the first year they've read the names of graduates.) The reall stinky part is that Matthew Fox, a fellow Columbia Alum, spoke at another college's commencement. While some lucky people were listening to him...we were listening to some physist/sciencest talk about her achievements. No offense to the sceiencest of the world, but Matthew Fox is not only more interesting, but he is way hot too! Oh well, at least I can say that he and I now are part of something together....along with Rogers and Hamerstein, Art Garfunkel, Julia Stiles, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Alan Greenspan. Those are just to name a few! (Some Alumni I'd rather not name...don't like them!) Needless to say Matthew and I have the same robes now! :)

Don't Feed the Animals...

BUT YOU BETTER FEED BOWEN!
Bowen loves to eat....here he is chewing on some frozen watermellon. It feels so nice on his two little new teeth (Do you see them?) and on those still trying to come through! He is so dang cute! As Aunt Bugga says, "Don't them little eyes just melt you!"

A visit to the Happy Cow Creamery!

For FHE we went to a small local dairy called the Happy Cow Creamery! We have been reading the Little House on the Praire books and had just read the week before about ma making chesse. We went mostly in search for some chesse curds! We found SO MUCH MORE! The kids loved it! Grandma Great would have been in chesse heaven! :) It was a fun little "field trip" with a several yummy purchases to take home for a treat!

Fashion Plates

Kate & Clair love to pick out dresses each Sunday! Then they say, "Take our picture Mom!" Sadly most Sundays we are in such a rush pictures never happen! They looked so cute this Sunday, I had to TAKE the time! They are growing up so fast!

What's so hard about filling in a simple bubble sheet?

I've worked with teachers all over the country that CAN'T fill in a simple bubble sheet. This has made the last two weeks a living nightmare. Teachers out there, or future teachers or parent's of teachers...I can't stress enough the importance of filling in bubble sheets correctly! If for no other reason, do it for me! :)

Where's Emily?

I'm sure you are all familiar with "Where's Waldo?" Well, this is a little thing I like to call "Where's Emily?" I'm somewhere in these pictures...ok not really, I'm the one taking the pictures! I went to Minnesota last month. While I was there I went to the Mall of America. I've been before, but I didn't really get to look around. Basically it's just a really big mall. This time I did discover the Amusement Park and the Lego store. Both of those were really cool. I thought I would share the pictures with you.

You've gotta see this...

I tried to post this YouTube video, but I couldn't get it to work. Instead I have the URL for it. Copy and paste it to your address bar. It will take you right to it. You have to go see it. It will make you remember your childhood, at least it made me remember mine!

I never remember seeing this one, but I certainly was able to sing along!
